Tax Day Tea Party

This year Hamilton had two April 15 Tax Day Tea Parties, one at noon on the corner of Main and 93, and one at 5:30 at Claudia Driscoll Park. It is inspiring to see that people remain committed to making sure our voices are heard. One disappointment was the coverage by the Ravalli Republic. There was a picture of Sally Bell holding a sign, but the caption under the picture was mostly about the announcement made at the beginning of the program that anyone carrying a gun put it in their car. By making this one of only 3 sentences about the event, the paper gave the impression that the party had lots of gun toting extremists, which mimics the mainstream media coverage of tea parties. It is worth noting that no one at the event actually had a gun. The announcement was just about the rules of the park, which also included how we were going to deal with making sure all the trash was picked up. The event was upbeat, respectful and informative.
At the 5:30 event, we launched this website as a resource for all people in the community who are interested in keeping informed. It will be a place to go to find out what is happening locally as well as nationally. We'll have links to related websites and your elected Representatives. We want to make it easy for you to stay informed and to keep in touch with your Representatives. The Ravalli County Tea Party Patriots is affiliated with the National Tea Party Patriot group, and there is a link to their website on this page. We are not affiliated with any Political Party or any other locally organized group. This page and the Facebook page are intended to be a place for anyone who is committed to the values of Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility and Free Markets to go to network, share information and vent. Anyone is welcome to post. There are few rules, but I am the Administrator on both pages and the one absolute rule is that the posts be civil and policy focused. Any posts which are obscene, racist or offensive by generally accepted standards of behavior will be removed.
Share this page with your friends and family. This is a critical time in the history of our country and it is important to be actively involved if you want to be part of the real change we can believe in.

  1. I am excited about this forum and the organizing of RC Tea Party Patriots. I'm hoping this will be a positive step in changing our country back to the country our forefathers set up for us.

  2. I was very disappointed at the misleading coverage in the Ravalli Republic. I hope everyone is writing letters to the editor about that!
Thanks for setting this page up. I think it will be a great place to exchange ideas and post events. Ditto Sally.
